Electronic component suppliers must be rubbing their hands in glee. We are all set for a 3D Gaming revolution! My son has a collection of 3D Games and we have yet (and it will be a while I can tell you) to purchase any kind of 3D TV system. Hey, we’ve only just embraced the HD Ready market – what do you want from me?!
I am reliably informed that “First person shooters” are one of two Genres of 3D games that are worth playing at the moment. Games such as “Kill Zone 3” (Havoc Games) or Crisis 2 (Crytek) offer the real feel of being “in the space”, actually inside the experience. It’s what Gamers have longed for – forever! Another great 3D gaming experience can be had with winter sport games such as the snowboarding game SSX Deadly Descents (EA).
Of course there are the portable gaming systems. Electronic component suppliers such as Global Sources, based in China, have sites all over Asia and India. Asiavision Communication Ltd distributes components from China alone. They are just two of many such electronic component suppliers who manufacture hot 7-inch 3D Gaming Laptops and consoles. Nintendo’s 3DS (from Japan) has turned everyone from 6-year olds to 90-year old Grandparents into Gamers. Unassisted “in the palm of your hand 3D”, with no special, clunky glasses required, is an incredibly exciting development and a great step forward in the 3D Gaming market.
Back in the sitting room though, all 3D games automatically play when inserted into Playstation 3 consoles, but obviously you need the 3D TV for the full effect. It will be some time before my son gets to experience that from our sofa!
